I don’t know about you but the kitchen is my happy place! I love to step in there and just get lost in creating something delicious! Whether it is a complicated 3 hour 50 step recipe or a simple grilled cheese sandwich I always cherish my time in the kitchen. It is my time to think and decompress from the day. Plus after taking the time to myself I get to reward myself with a tasty treat.
That being said it is a task I like to do alone. I do not want to have to worry about bumping into someone, sharing my space, or having to talk out loud! Just let me float about unbothered. During the holidays this is basically impossible! Everyone likes to be in the kitchen whether it is to help cook, “help” or just be in there with me. This drives my stress levels up the wall!
That is where a nice glass of wine or a cocktail really comes in handy. On the holidays you can find me mashing potatoes with one hand and sipping on an adult beverage in the other. Melting the stress away one sip at a time! Trust me that keeping my glass full results in a better get together for us all.
This holiday season I will be sipping away on my apple pie margaritas! They are nice and tart from the apple cider and warm from the cinnamon sugar rim. Think of it as pre-dessert with a kick! Plus with a cocktail this tasty it will make day drinking at noon feel less taboo.
Ingredients Needed
Sugar Rim
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon decorating sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Cocktail
3 shots apple cider
1 shot tequila
1/2 shot orange juice
How to Make Apple Pie Margaritas
These apple pie margaritas are super easy to make and can easily be made into a pitcher if you are sharing or if you need more than one drink to get through the holiday! Haha. No judgment here! Do you!
Grab 2 wide shallow flat rimmed plates slightly larger than the diameter of your glasses. In one plate pour some orange juice just high enough to dip the edge of your glass in. In the other plate mix together the cinnamon, sugar and decorating sugar. To rim your glass simply dip it into the orange juice and then twirl it into the sugar.
It’s good to note that if you are only making 1 cocktail you will have some leftover cinnamon sugar. Don’t toss it though! You can save the cinnamon sugar for future cocktails, add it to baked goods or turn it into a cinnamon sugar lip scrub with the addition of a little olive oil.
In a cocktail mixer shake the cocktail ingredients together with ice. If you do not have a shaker you can stir the ingredients together in a larger glass prior to pouring. Once the cocktail has combined and chilled slightly, pour it over new ice in your rimmed glass. Optionally and definitely worth the cuteness factor, garnish each glass with an apple slice and cinnamon stick. Now take a sip or two or chug and wash all the stress of the holidays away. Heck! Maybe even pour yourself a second glass of apple pie margaritas to get through it all!
